After a years’ worth of development time working with glass powders, I will be showing new work in a Focus show at Contemporary Applied Arts in London. I have made several large scale kiln formed glass vessels which are extremely delicate, light and even float on water. These pieces have all been inspired by my residency at North Lands Creative Glass last year.
My piece called ‘Handmade – Championing the hand made work’ is a medium kiln formed vessel about 5cm tall with abstract powder design on the outside and an engraved character inside along with a little golden gilding wax, all hung on a stainless steel cord.
I wanted to see how the design would stretch through the slumping process and I love seeing the hands peek out from the vessel.
